Options and Equipment

THE VAN:
This silver beauty began as an upper trim level, SXT. This model includes the upgraded 3.8 liter motor, which is a great motor, well-proven over a number of years of being the optional motor in vans such as this. It also has the 6 speed trans (other models and older vans have a 4 speed) for smoother shifting and increased MPG. This van has many features in addition to the common, lesser trim levels. In addition to common features such as power windows, locks and mirrors, plus tilt wheel and cruise control, it has these features also: power driver seat; both slider doors are power; CD stereo with upgrades; alloy wheels; power rear vents; rear ventilation; extensive overhead console with extra vents, lighting and storage for all 3 rows of seats; leather steering wheel cover; upgraded interior and exterior trim; adjustable pedals; plus more

Mobility and Adaptive Features
This was converted when new by the largest mobility company, Braun. It received a specific conversion they call "Companion". This conversion was special-ordered with the purpose of the users having maximum function, with greatest ease and reliability. It includes the following primary features:

SPECIAL DESCRIPTION ABOUT THIS "COMPANION" PACKAGE:
Typical lowered floor minivans, which this van is not, have the floor extremely lowered and modified, far forward, to just below the dash area. This company and others certainly have figured out over the years how to do that process in a manner that is reasonably strong, safe and reliable. However, this specific conversion, which is found on less than 2% of all lowered floor minivans, retains the original floor and structure under the front seat area. And the front seats are 100% original as well, unlike the typical front seat assemblies on lowered floor mobility vans. For these reasons, this "Companion" package results in more structural integrity, less modification to many aspects of the van, more original components being utilized, etc. If you don't need to park a wheelchair in the front area, this conversion has many benefits, in addition to having a 100% stock power sliding door and no technology for the ramp of any kind. All of this combined, leads to a conversion that is simple, simple, simple...and has more structural integrity and much fewer alterations made to its overall makeup.

* Deeply lowered floor in the middle area of the van. As described above, notable benefit of this type of floor is that the front seating and floor area is all 100% original and unmodified, which has notable benefit regarding the structure. This is a benefit because the floor/body is much less altered than the vans with low floor in the front areas, as well as the middle.

* Manual-operated aluminum ramp, on the passenger side. As part of our extensive rejuvenation of this van, we replaced the original ramp with a BRAND NEW custom-ordered aluminum ramp that is nicer, stronger, better. This has an hydraulic assist mechanism that makes it very easy to raise and lower. Even a person who is a bit weak or frail should have no problem operating this aluminum ramp that has an assist device.

* Many anchor points in the floor to attach anchor straps to for securing the wheelchair

* Includes 4 anchor straps for securing the wheelchair

* NOTE: this van has 100% original front seats and rear seat. The deeply lowered floor in the middle area accommodates even large wheelchairs with large users

Ownership

Other than approximately the first one year of its life, the same man in San Francisco, who used it to transport his daughter, has owned this.

Certified

This vehicle is 'Certified': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis Certification process. A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists. The result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects meets or exceeds the condition level of good, or satisfactory.

Each van does of course have various elements which exceed the promised level of good or satisfactory, which the Certified program assures. Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic. I refer to these as NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS

This body style, with minor changes inside or out, began in 2008 and still exists in 2019. Therefore, this van looks, functions and feels very similar to a new van containing same features.

Summary of this Gem

This is one of the most modern wheelchair vans we have offered. The first year of this major body style change was 2008 and remains as the body style for Caravans, including through 2019. This one has lots of features and options due to being the well-equipped SXT model. This model, combined with the special Braun "Companion" mobility conversion, makes this a super-value wheelchair van in this price range. Plus, it has very nice mileage too. This van represents a great overall value for a fairly modern "Certified" wheelchair van with warranty.

Famously great 3.8 engine has been around for many years, as it was the optional motor in prior years. But with now having a 6 speed transmission, you can expect some very respectable MPG, plus smooth operating and nice power as well.

Brand new ramp is all aluminum and very sturdy. This requires little effort (please see the video) to raise or lower and of course, zero maintenance or concerns about reliability, service, repairs, etc.
