1996 Ford 1/2 ton w/luxurious "Regency" touring conversion AND mobility access conversion
Miles: apx. 61,000

General Description

This began as a 1/2 ton Ford with standard length body.  It has a small V8 and overdrive transmission (freshly rebuilt 5,000 miles ago) plus a nice list of original equipment features such as: power windows, locks, mirrors, tilt, cruise, chrome bumpers and more.

Conversion:

When it was new it received a top quality "Regency" brand touring/cruising conversion, with extensive luxury and convenience features such as: integrated running boards and wheel flares; leather seats with power; dual heat and A/C; big windows with vents; fancy window coverings; rear power seat which folds to a bed; extensive interior custom lighting; real wood trim in many locations; very elaborate custom audio system in front and rear; custom alloy wheels.  It is one of the most fancy and high quality conversions I have seen.

Mobility/Adaptive features:

*  Has a side lift made by Crow River, which became part of the industry leader, called Braun.  This is a very deluxe lift which has two major features to it.  First is that it has a single-post design, which means that there is no upright structural column behind the right front seat which would impede very much on the front seat access.  Secondly it has what is called a bi-fold platform, meaning that the area where the wheelchair is parked when in use is able to easily fold into two parts when stowed.  This also allows for much freedom of movement in and out of the front passenger seat area. Additionally, this also allows for an able-bodied person to go in and out of the side doors fairly easily when the lift is stowed.

*  Has a 6 inch lowered floor in the middle section of the van.  This makes a HUGE difference in the experience of using this van as a wheelchair van.  This is a great solution for folks who want a van that looks, drives and functions like a common van (able to go in parking garages, drive-thru's, carports, etc) but has extra clearance and headroom which is needed for folks in wheelchairs and is nice for their family and friends as the extra headroom makes moving about the van noticeably easier.

* has an EZ-Loc electronic docking station which allows an appropriately-equipped wheelchair to load and unload (no anchor straps needed) in matter of seconds.

* This van can include (at a very fair additional price) a nice power wheelchair which came with the van when I acquired it.  It is equipped with the ability to anchor into the EZ-Loc docking mechanism.

Summary:

This is a gorgeous van with super low miles that will do very well for a large percentage of folks in wheelchairs and their families.  If you want much of the benefits of a tall-roof van, but want a van that will go anywhere and do anything without the limits of a tall van, this is a super

solution.

Approximate Price: low-mid-teens

1992 Ford full size: load and unload and drive by person in wheelchair (with no assistance)
Only 85,000 miles

General Description

This has the small V8 with power windows, locks, tilt, cruise, stereo and more.  Sharp blue exterior with chrome bumpers, custom stripes, fancy wheel-covers and more.  Several large windows with vents, screens and shades.

Mobility/Adaptive features:

This has in many ways the best of both worlds, so to speak:  It achieves its interior headroom and entry/exit clearance NOT from a raised roof but rather from two major features.  First, it has an 8 inch lowered floor, which includes the drivers area and the middle portion of the van.  Plus, it has a special modification to the roof at the entry area which creates 4 inches extra clearance when entering/exiting.   And so, when you combine the floor being lowered 8 inches, plus the 4 inch additional at the edge of the roof....that makes 12 inches extra clearance at the entry point!   With 58 inches of clearance at the entry point, this vans entry clearance exceeds all but of a few of the vans with a tall roof and tall side door.   And once inside it has within a few inches of headroom of a tall roof van. However, this one can be parked under a standard ceiling, goes into fast food lanes and into parking garages and so forth...just like a normal height van!   It also has power opening side doors and a nice style and brand of lift plus an electronic docking station to anchor the wheelchair.   All of this combined allows for certain people in a wheelchair to load and unload themselves and drive with no need for any assistance from anyone.   Maximum freedom for a person in a wheelchair...

Summary:

I get many inquiries from folks wanting this sort of conversion, but I usually don't have one.  Because, about 80%-90% of full size wheelchair vans are designed for a circumstance where there is a helper assisting the person in a wheelchair.  If you are looking for a van that you can have maximum independence and freedom, at a very affordable price, this may be the super solution you are looking for.

Note: this is an early example of the body style that continues until the mid-2000's and as a result, given what will be beautiful overall condition, this van would appear to be much newer than its year indicates.  In fact, most folks would not know if it was a 2002 or a 1992 because there is such minor visual or functional differences over the years.

Approximate Price:

Due to its vintage I am able to offer this, in highly rejuvenated (cosmetic, functional, mechanical) and "Certified" condition at a modest price of around $13k  (cost of similar conversion process (plus van) is now about $20k)

Preliminary Photos

See Here: Quick-release driver's seat;  lowered floor in mid-van PLUS drivers area allows driving from wheelchair;  EZ-Lock docking station on floor for wheelchair or seat;   58 inches headroom!  wheelchair platform automatically divides vertically when stowed, allowing easy passage for family and friends

See Here:  floor is lowered 8 inches;  cozy interior;  big windows with vents and screens; custom rear seat converts into nearly queen-size bed!
quick glance does not reveal this to be highly-featured wheelchair van, but it is.  Please look closely and read info Rare combo of features allows 100% independent operation by many people in wheelchairs...no helper needed Combination of  low floor PLUS modified roof makes generous 58 inches clearance...even at entry!

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan ES (top model) with Premium VMI (Ricon) mobility conversion
Miles:  apx. 77,000

General Description:

Began as a the highest trim level of Dodge Grand Caravan available, which is an ES model. The original owner, who I bought it

from, special ordered it because he wanted certain special features.  As he (a retired IBM manager) said, "it has every option except leather, because I don't like leather".  This means it has a very long list of features, such as common ones being: power windows, locks, mirrors; tilt and cruise; stereo system.  And then some of the more special features and items are: has a "Sport" package which includes several items such as rear spoiler, upgraded suspension and more; has gorgeous pearl white paint; 3.8 motor; color-matched adjustable roof rack; power seat; top-level "Infinity" sound system with CD and cassette plus equalizer, extra amplifiers and 10 speakers; front and rear heat and A/C; overhead console with temp/mpg/direction/etc; factory fog lights. Special mention should be made of a cool and rare feature: this has a special-ordered transmission which is called an "auto-stick', which allows for a style and method of 'performance' shifting which has similar characteristics to using a stick shift....but operates with the flick up or down of one little button.  However, it can also be put into the standard mode and it functions exactly like the auto transmissions you are familiar with.  This very special feature is in far less than 1% of all minivans. Oh, I must not forget to mention...it has custom wheels which he added to make it more attractive and unique.

Mobility/Adaptive features:

It was converted when new by a division of industry giant Ricon, called VMI.  This is an acronym for Vantage Mobility Industries. They are possibly the most large and respected of the major convertors.  When this was new, they modified it to include these features:

* deeply lowered floor with extensive locations and variety of anchor points for securing wheelchair

* easily removable front seats allow for parking a wheelchair in either front location

* Power sliding passenger door

* kneeling suspension.  It has my favorite style for kneeling, which is NOT operated by air, as most other kneeling systems are. Rather, this is a very simple and reliable mechanical device that raises and lowers the passenger rear corner of the van, making the ramp angle easier to navigate.

 * power ramp with what is called the "gate feature'. This is a simple mechanism which allows for the ramp to be folded outward 90 degrees to allow for easy transition in and out of passengers when lift is stowed.

* Various methods and locations for operating door, ramp and kneeling

* Special item: this has a power turning seat currently in the drivers position.  Sometimes this is referred to as a power transfer seat. Therefore, in addition to the original power seat adjustments, this one has extreme travel up and down, forward and backward and most notably in a turning fashion. It is able to rotate apx. 100 degrees, which hugely aids in allowing some folks in chairs to be able to transition from their wheelchair into the drivers seat in order to drive not from the wheelchair, but from the regular seat.  Note:  drivers seat system can be removed if you want to drive form wheelchair.

* This has very nice quality hand controls. Are removable, if you don't want them.  Meanwhile, the van drives virtually like normal for folks using it who are not mobility challenged.

Summary:

When considering the unusual, top level of features this van had when new and the top quality of this conversion, plus having the special seal...this may be the most highly equipped, and therefore most versatile, minivan I have ever offered. And of course, as with each van I sell, when the extensive rejuvenation process is complete, it will not only be cosmetically gorgeous inside and out, but it will be in absolutely top condition both mechanically and functionally...which allows it to be sold as a "Certified" pre-owned (CPO) vehicle.

Approximate Price: mid-teens   (similarly equipped new van is currently apx $60k)

Dear Rick... I want to take this time to let you know how excited I am about the 95 Ford camping van that I bought from you. I just love it!! I truly appreciated your kindness, patience and understanding throughout the whole process. I also appreciate the quality of the van. You were nothing like those typical car salesman. You were friendly, cheerful and not pushy....and still gave me a great deal!!! I will certainly send folks your way.

Thanks again!
Dawn Linwood
