Highlights of This Van:

* apx. $3,250 of new and very recent mechanical service: details below (extensive investment in cosmetic rejuvenation is in addition to this $3,250)

Special style/design of lift has many benefits, which are unique to this model of lift. Please read details below. (and see photos)

* Notice the FLOOR and ROOF modifications on this van. The combined benefit of these features causes this van to have apx. the same entry clearance as a van with tall roof AND tall doors ! (but without the associated negatives of a tall van)

Options and Equipment

THE VAN:

This began as a standard length 1/2 ton with small V8 (5.0 liter/302) with automatic and overdrive. It is an XLT, and as such it has a long list of comfort, convenience and appearance features such as: power windows, locks and mirrors, intermittent wipers, tilt wheel, cruise control, chrome bumpers, upgraded stereo, tinted windows, adjustable bucket seats with dual armrests...and more.

GOODIES:

As you see in the photos, this has two-tone paint with special striping. It was originally solid white and the lower accent color of metallic blue and the custom striping was added when I owned this van two years ago. The original owner added the fancy wheels a few years ago. This van also has a custom high-capacity rear ventilation system which is designed to ventilate into the middle area of the van and very low in height (see photo) for direct benefit of person in wheelchair. And there is a commercial/medical-grade, high-capacity power supply mounted under the driver’s seat, which can be used to power a substantial piece of equipment such as an oxygen system, high-amp wheelchair charger, or other 12-volt items as desired. And finally, there is a very nice high-performance CD stereo system that was added a few years ago by the original owner

MOBILITY:
Has a very unique style of lift, invented and built exclusively by the industry leader "Braun". This is called a "Swing-A-Way". Notice in the photos several uniquely helpful features, unlike any other lift: parallel-loading design requires minimal clearance at side of van due to there being no need for perpendicular approach and due to the fact that the lift extends less than 3 feet from side of van; has an 800 pound capacity, which equals much larger lifts, yet is compact in design; unusual platform is compact when stowed, due to a space-saving extendable design; this lift does not make the van lean or rock when loading nearly as much as the traditional lifts, due to its design keeping the loaded weight much closer to the van

* Has a lowered floor in the middle portion of the van. This not only creates extra headroom once inside the van, it improves the entry clearance very much also.

* See in the photos the extension to the tops of the entry doors and the corresponding roof modification. These two features combined adds about 10 inches to the entry clearance, making the clearance (the lowest point when entering) similar to a van with tall roof and fairly tall customized doors at apx 56 inches inches. Wow, this is a super fact !

* Various anchor points for tie-down straps are mounted in the floor.

History of Ownership

This was driven by the original, first owner, with the exception of the past apx 8,000 miles. He was a wealthy man in the Bay area who loved having a fancy wheelchair van. That is why he had added extensive visual and functional features to this van, as described on this page.

Certified

This vehicle is 'CERTIFIED': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects  included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis "Certification" process.   A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists.   The  result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects  meets  or exceeds the condition level of good, or satisfactory

For details regarding list of 76 cosmetic and mechanical aspects, please click here.

Each van does of course have various elements which exceed the promised level of good, or
satisfactory, which the "Certified" program assures.  Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic.  I refer to these as  "NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS".

* Exception regarding accessory audio/video features in the rear: over the years we’ve discovered that for various reasons, accessory audio/video systems (IE: picture tube TV; VCR; cassette players; etc) in wheelchair vans of the vintage we specialize in are typically obsolete or irrelevant and are often cost-prohibitive to repair or replace, while keeping the vans at a nice price. Therefore, such items are excluded from our "Certified" program list. This includes such systems as TV’s, VCR’s, separate rear audio devices, etc. Usually, all or part of such systems is operational, but that is not promised. The wiring, speakers and connections, fixtures, etcetera are generally in good order, which is very helpful if a person were to want to update the system to modern features, such as a flat screen TV, DVD, etc. We do include in the “Certified” program the factory or aftermarket stereo systems that are in the dash area (which often includes front and rear speakers) but not added systems in the middle or rear of the van.

As for this vehicle:

New:VALUABLE PROJECT COMPLETED WITHIN PRIOR 2,000 MILES: Due to the high level inspection, and my standards of commitment to following all advice of a fastidious mechanic, this van has now had a fresh "top end" on the motor. Because, although there were zero apparent signs during operation, in-depth inspection discovered the very beginning stage of a head-gasket failing. And so I of course had the shop do a head-gasket project to make it right. In addition, while they were doing that and had the top of the engine apart, I decided to do an extensive renewal of the heads and their components. This includes such parts as: re-surface heads; new valves; new valve guides; new valve springs; new hard seats; etc. And additionally, when the motor was apart, I decided to have them install a complete package of "tune-up" parts, such as: plugs; cap; rotor; wires; etc.

In addition to the above-mentioned items the following was also completed: ABS brake system service; new exhaust manifold; timing cover gasket; water pump; cooling system flush; front wheel bearings; oil/lube/filter; wipers; new wheelchair-lift switches

Approximate retail value/cost of above-listed items: $ $3,250 !

(extensive investment in cosmetic rejuvenation is in addition to this $3,250)

WARRANTY NOTE: I have decided that due to the extent this van has been renewed, my warranty will be 12 months/12,000 miles, which is double what I usually include with this price of van

Carfax Report Summary

You Might Like To Know...

* Ford vans from 1992-2006 have almost the same design, in fact, most folks would hardly notice the difference between vans of that wide age range. And because this one has had many visual upgrades, and is immaculate inside and out, it seems to be MUCH newer than its calendar age.

* Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars.

Summary of this Gem

This is one of the more uniquely equipped and very capable vans I have offered at such a low price. I hope you have read all of the details above, as well as the captions on the photos. The combined sum of this vans qualities is MUCH more than a quick glance would suggest.

Another view of the raised roof AND door

NOTICE:  this roof AND door are raised a nice amount, creating notably more entry clearance and interior headroom...especially when combined with benefits of the lowered floor

Lowered floor adds substantially to the interior headroom and feeling of spaciousness (even without a tall roof)  Also notice the anchor points on the floor, and there are several not seen in photos

Notice how the platform expands to easily accommodate a moderately sized wheelchair

Notice the very lowered floor, and also the custom ventilation system under the rear seat

This professional/medical power supply has all of the bells and whistles:  fan-cooled; two plugs; has sensors and meters; very high output and designed for continuous operation. I'm not much of a a gadget person, but I can tell you this is super equipment.  New cost to replace for parts and labor would be about $1,500!

Looks very modern and sharp from every angle

Custom two-tone paint, stripes, moldings and custom wheels really help make this van a standout...

The unique design of this lift provides many benefits, such as when in stowed position it is very easy for an able-bodied person to get in and out of the van.

NOTE: the platform is expandable. This photo shows it in its collapsed, smallest state.  And yet it has the ability to expand substantially to accommodate most power or manual wheelchairs.
