Options and Equipment THE VAN: it began as a 3/4 ton (notably more capable than a 1/2 ton, with little adverse affect) with the famously powerful, reliable and efficient 5.7 (350) motor, with automatic and overdrive. With a nice list of comfort, convenience and appearance features such as power windows, locks and mirrors, tilt and cruise; stereo; heavy duty chrome bumpers; quad headlights; and more GOODIES: As a new van, this was converted by what was at the time (and has now weathered the recession) a luxury-level conversion company named "Explorer". This had what most folks would refer to as a "touring" or "Cruising" conversion. Primary features include the following, and there is much more: fancy leather seats with power drivers; rear bench has power adjustments; moderately tall, contoured roof with two small skylight windows in the front; large windows with vents; extensive custom moldings, graphics and accessories; custom wheels; roof storage rack ; fancy rear tire carrier; front and rear ventilation; extensive audio/video system; various storage bins, compartments and areas; fancy upholstery, carpet and fabrics; rear clothing rack; POWER REAR SUNROOF (super cool and rare); extensive lighting custom throughout; much real wood throughout; and more and more... MOBILITY: * Braun lift (top brand) with awesome power tri-folding platform. This automatically allows easy access for able-bodied folks in and out of the side entry area when lift is stowed. Notice in the photos this lift shows almost no wear as it has had little use. * Has wonderfully modified tall doors (all steel mod's) and corresponding roof notch. This creates substantial additional clearance when going in and out of the van, to the benefit of person in wheelchair, as well as making it much easier for everyone else when going in and out. * This has a feature which I love, which I have never seen in a van before: has narrow-profile (suitable for most adults and kids) jump seat (with seat belt) along drivers side wall. This creates a super space for a person to ride (possibly an attendant to the person in wheelchair) while not taking up much of the floor area where the wheelchair maneuvers. And notice in the photos how this seat also has ability o fold down and open up to create various types of storage. * Includes my NEW mid-van flooring system: this is my favorite cost-effective improvement on wheelchair vans, which is very helpful to not only the person in the wheelchair but able-bodied folks as well. I consider this feature to be an improvement that most wheelchair vans ought to have, old or new. You see, if you pay attention to how floors normally are in full size wheelchair vans, you'll notice that they're usually not solid, smooth or level. Rather, they are somewhat lumpy, bumpy and not very easy to maneuver the wheelchair on. I greatly improve that, by removing the existing mid-van carpet and pad and having cabinet-grade wood put directly over the metal van floor. And then there is a fantastic type of commercial carpet which is used to cover the wood. This material is very short pile, super tough, and easy to clean. And so, this van has this new flooring circumstance, which notably improves the interior use of the van. * includes several anchor points for the floor, which you can have installed in the exact locations of your choosing. Dimensions, capacity and specifications: Please feel free to email or call me with any such questions. I will gladly assist with anything you wish to know. I have discovered that due to the unique way each person evaluates, measures and expresses their needs, I can be most helpful regarding this subject if we communicate directly.
History of Ownership Has been in dry, rust-free central and northern California for its entire life. Has had total of 3 owners.

Carfax Report
Summary Nothing notably negative or unusual: no frame damage...no airbags deployed...no structural damage...no "red marks"...no major accident.
You Might Like To Know... * Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars. * please look at the photos and read closely as you check out this amazingly-equipped, luxurious and feature-laden. Wow, the list of features, goodies, accessories, and luxury and convenience features is very long. Summary of this Gem To recreate this amazing 3/4 ton van, using the same "Explorer" company and also a wheelchair van convertor, total cost would be around $60,000-$70,000! Sure, its a bit of a "classic", but it looks, feels and functions as if it were a van of only a fraction of its actual vintage. |

This is a
super nifty jump

up very little
width in the

enough to

Everywhere
you look, or
feel,
inside this van
is awesome. It
looks nearly new
in here, wow.
Super note
about brand new
floor package:
The restoration
of this van
includes what I
consider to be a
feature every
full size
wheelchair van
benefits greatly
from. However,
very few vans
have this
feature, not
even current new
ones. What is
it? The
original pad and
carpet
were removed,
and replaced
with solid wood
underlayment,
and then covered
with a special
carpet I have
chosen for such
projects.
This creates a
very solid,
secure, smooth
and level
surface to
maneuver the
wheelchair on.
This package is
FAR superior to
the floor in
most wheelchair
vans.
Also, the super
tight nap carpet
is very easy to
clean, so
durable and
creates almost
no rolling
resistance.
This package
makes this van
and others I
offer much nicer
than other vans
in real-life,
daily use.

Wow, check
that out. This
van is very,
very nice in
every way.
Yes, it has
lived a few
years, but now
that it has been
restored and
refurbished, it
is gorgeous and
every single
feature and item
works well.
This van has
many years of
quality life and
service ahead,
for your benefit
and enjoyment. (Click on Picture to Enlarge) |

Explorer is
one of the few
brands of
conversion
companies who
remain strong,
after decades of
creating
top-level
touring/cruising
vans. (Click on Picture to Enlarge) |
3/4 ton vans
such as this
have the extra
capacity you
want and need if
you want to tow
a serious load.
Plus, under
normal unloaded
conditions, this
van wears
better, and
handles the
daily workload
better. It
does so because
it has many
components which
are stronger,
better
engineered and
capable than a
1/2 ton van. (Click on Picture to Enlarge) |
This was the
very top level
(content,
features,
materials)
package which
Explorer offered
in this year. (Click on Picture to Enlarge) |
Clean,
sharp,
classic... (Click on Picture to Enlarge) |
Notice those
two
skylights...that's
cool, don't you
think? It
sure is unusual,
and more
expensive to
build than a
solid roof.
(and no, there
is ZERO signs of
any leakage,
they are water
tight) (Click on Picture to Enlarge) |
* I apologize for any unclear photos. At times, the conditions make a clear photo impossible. |
