I special-ordered this with the intention of using it as a demonstrator here at WVO. It took extra time and effort to get this very fancy model Caravan, because mobility conversion companies don’t often convert the super fancy, loaded models. My plan was for my wife and I to use it locally for personal use and also as a demonstrator for folks who want to order a rear entry wheelchair van. However, once we saw this van and realized how beautiful and special it is, we decided to not use it and instead, offer it for sale.

Options and Features

This van is very rare, as wheelchair vans go, because it began as the top trim level Caravan, plus it has options on top of that. Among features on the top level SXT model, plus options, it has a very long list of features, such as: 3.6 six cylinder with 6 speed automatic; special pearl paint and interior and exterior trim; leather seats; heated front seats and heated steering wheel; 3-zone digital climate control; multi-mode info and entertainment system which can be easily upgraded to have navigation; both side doors and hatch are power operated via buttons or remote; large alloy wheels and Michelin tires; fog lights; tilt and telescope steering wheel; special interior lighting; special overhead and floor console systems; side and knee airbags; heavy duty cooling and brakes; and much more.

MOBILITY: This was converted by a company that specializes in rear entry mobility conversions, primarily Caravans. As you can see and read in detail on another page on this website, conversion of this van is of the best design, finest engineering and highest quality materials and labor. :

* Deep channel in the center rear of the van: middle of the floor area is lowered almost to the rear of the front seats. This deep channel creates whopping 57 inches of entry clearance! There is plenty of channel and ramp width for nearly all manual or power wheelchairs. Of particular note is that 57 inches is a super entry clearance dimension for a minivan mobility van.

* Rear hatch: opens in the usual way, same as an unconverted van (has power operation)

* Wonderful ramp: transitions smoothly from the end of the channel in the floor down to the ground and has a super 800-pound capacity. Has a nifty, newly designed and engineered assist mechanism. Even a small child can use this ramp, because it only requires 7 pounds of effort to raise or lower it.

* Two super-simple latches secure the ramp: designed to be easy to operate, even for folks with weak hands, arthritis...or even with gloves on.

* Two single-person seats in middle area: these are on either side of the forward portion of the floor channel. Ready to use anytime and they do not impede the ability to roll and park a wheelchair in the front of the channel. These seats utilize the original 3-point seat belts and original leather seats that have some adjustability.

* Two-person seat in the rear area: holds one or two, or can be folded up in a matter of seconds if not in use. When in use, this seat utilizes the original 3-point seatbelt system.

* Various anchor point locations: these are installed in the floor, for securing wheelchair

* Anchor straps: includes set of 4 brand new, easily adjustable straps

However, if you are a person that wants a very special wheelchair van, one that has all of the goodies and bells and whistles, so to speak...that is another matter. There are scarcely few mobility vans like this one that are the super fancy models with modern technology, extra comfort, greater safety, etc. Plus, most conversion companies would have a price much higher than this van, when they do have an extra fancy one like this one.

This wheelchair van is not for everyone. If lowest possible price on a rear entry mobility van is your focus, I fully understand. However, if you want something extra special, unlike all but a few wheelchair vans, this may be just what you’re looking for. This van is sporty, gorgeous, extra comfortable, extra safe, has lots of bells and whistles and goodies to play with and make yourself and your passengers very comfortable.
