Highlights of This Van:

$1,500 of new and very recent mechanical service: details below
(extensive investment in cosmetic rejuvenation is in addition to this $1,500)

* At this time, to replicate this van, custom built by VMI/Braun, would cost apx. $60,000 ! And they virtually never reach the used market, especially not with crazy low miles.

* If you need or want certain features, or top quality, or very low miles...or if you want or need a full size van that allows full independence... this van is a very rare discovery indeed. And if you are one of these people, you likely understand how very special this van is.

Options and Equipment

THE VAN:

This began as a 3/4 ton (hard to find as a wheelchair van)with famously super 5.4 liter "Triton" motor. It has full power and convenience features such as: windows; locks; mirrors; tilt; cruise; heavy-duty rear ventilation; factory alloys; CD stereo; fancy chrome bumpers; and more

GOODIES:

As part of its conversion by Braun this van received an extensive package (named "Liberty") of comfort, convenience and functional items, such as: strong, functional side steps and wheel flares; tow package (almost never used); large side windows with vents; fancy graphics and exterior trim; real wood interior trim; fancy, multiple-choice interior lighting; overhead console; rear bench that folds to a bed; and more

MOBILITY:

Most folks don't know that although Braun and its subsidiaries build large numbers of minivan wheelchair vans, they don't create very many full size vans. When Braun/Vmi designs and creates a full size wheelchair van, they hold nothing back. When you closely consider this van, it shines in regards to function and cosmetics. As for its mobility features, here is the list:

* Power opening side door

* Braun lift with spit-folding platform, which allows passage of able-bodied folks in and out when lift is stowed.

* Lowered floor, which goes all the way to below the dash, on both sides! Few vans have this design. Its amazing how much difference the entry clearance and interior headroom is increased by this feature. When looking at the depth of the ledge in front of the rear seat, it may not seem like its lowered very much, but it results in HUGE benefits to the user. For one thing, it allows enough space under the steering wheel if a person wants/needs to drive from their wheelchair. And of course, it makes the side entry overhead clearance sufficient for most people and their wheelchairs.

* Incredibly well designed quick-release front seat mechanisms. It only takes a minute to get either of them in or out, if desired or needed.

* various anchor points in the floor, for utilizing anchor straps.

* Has three major areas of operation for the lift and power door: magnetic switches in the taillight; large toggles in front center console area; medium toggles on the lift itself.

* Note: lift can be operated with switches on the lift platform arms

History of Ownership:

TWO OWNERS SINCE NEW

Certified

This vehicle is 'CERTIFIED': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects  included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis "Certification" process.   A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists.   The  result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects  meets  or exceeds the condition level of good, or satisfactory.

For details regarding list of 76 cosmetic and mechanical aspects, please click here. Each van does of course have various elements which exceed the promised level of good or satisfactory, which the "Certified" program assures.  Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic.  I refer to these as  "NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS".

* Exception regarding accessory audio/video features in the rear: over the years we’ve discovered that for various reasons, accessory audio/video systems (IE: picture tube TV; VCR; cassette players; etc) in wheelchair vans of the vintage we specialize in are typically obsolete or irrelevant and are often cost-prohibitive to repair or replace, while keeping the vans at a nice price. Therefore, such items are excluded from our "Certified" program list. This includes such systems as TV’s, VCR’s, separate rear audio devices, etc. Usually, all or part of such systems is operational, but that is not promised. The wiring, speakers and connections, fixtures, etcetera are generally in good order, which is very helpful if a person were to want to update the system to modern features, such as a flat screen TV, DVD, etc. We do include in the "Certified" program the factory or aftermarket stereo systems that are in the dash area (which often includes front and rear speakers) but not added systems in the middle or rear of the van.

Here are the new and recent items:

New:

Due to its incredibly low miles, and having been in a very moderate climate for its entire life, and with easy personal use, this van did not need a lot of major functional care

* A/C system service; lube service; wipers; cooling system service; mobility systems service;

Recent:
* Various brake care

Approximate retail value/cost of above-listed items:$1,500
(extensive investment in cosmetic rejuvenation is in addition to this $1,500)

Carfax Report Summary

(Carfax is a widely used database which indicates the history of a vehicle including accidents, prior owners, etc.)

Nothing notably negative or unusual: No airbags deployed...No damage leading to such report notes as salvage, totaled, etc...no "red marks" on the report...no major accident...no lemon history, no odometer tampering, no derogatory remarks on the state-issued title

You Might Like To Know...
* Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars.
* most full size wheelchair vans are 1/2 ton, and the remainder are mostly super long one tons, that have had harsh commercial use. Therefore, examples such as this which are 3/4 ton and have had only simple personal use are very rare.

Summary of this Gem
