2001 Ford is nicely equipped XLT model and has very hard to find, extensive VMI lowered floor mobility conversion with the most awesome and rare style of lift MILES 94,000 Price: $17,900 KEY NOTE Not all wheelchair vans achieve necessary entry room and clearance via having a tall roof, as some folks mistakenly perceive. Rather, vans such as this one appear to be a common van from the outside, but due to the lowered floor have extensive capability, beyond a typical van. General Description Began as a champagne (sorta silvery with a bit of tan tone) three quarter ton with the nice XLT package of features. Features on this van include: desirable 5.4 liter engine; auto with overdrive; power features such as windows, locks and mirrors; tilt wheel and cruise control; rear ventilation; upgraded interior (tannish) and exterior trim; factory alloy wheels; rear seat folds flat to a bed; much more. Both front seats are manually adjustable, or can be removed if wanting to drive from wheelchair or park wheelchair in front passenger location. Note about three-quarter ton Less than 10% of privately owned full size wheelchair vans are three-quarter or 1 ton, as most are half ton. There are virtually no one ton, personal use wheelchair vans. The three-quarter ton is somewhat superior to the half ton, regarding features such as: stronger brakes; larger coolers on motor and trans; various components that are built stronger and more capable. If you ever want to tow, three-quarter ton is quite superior to half ton. One nice thing about a three-quarter is that they lean and sway less when loading and unloading than a half ton, due to weight that is cantilevered out several feet from the van when loading/unloading, which causes a softer van to move/sway/lean more. Mobility and Adaptive Features When brand new this van received a mobility conversion by one of the few national-scale companies that creates such vans. Their name is VMI (in business for decades) and the conversion is called the Liberty package. Below are the primary features of this conversion * 6 inch lowered floor: this is in the middle portion of the van and significantly, at the side entry area. Plus, this lowered floor extends into the front passenger and driver areas too! This lowered floor feature allows for removing the drivers or passengers seat via quick-release mechanism. Also, this lowered floor creates enough extra entry clearance and interior headroom to allow most folks in wheelchairs to comfortably enter and exit, with also having a comfortable amount of headroom during travel time. Low floor also makes it nicer for able bodied folks to move about in the van. * Braun UVL lift: in my professional opinion, this is the world's best, most desirable style of lift, for notable reasons. This lift is stored entirely under the van and therefore when it is stowed, it is in no way in the interior whatsoever. This causes the following benefits: no lift rattling or sound for folks in the van to hear; no impedance of entry area or wheelchair-movement area; larger interior space, due to there being no lift in the doorway (see sample photos in order to fully appreciate these benefits) * Includes power opening side slider door, which is operated electronically. * Can mount seat in middle: when new, this was ordered with a special seating feature. This allows that a front seat can be mounted along the driver's wall, in the middle of the van. Creates much seating versatility * Anchor point locations: there are many slots in the front and rear ledges of the lowered floor that accommodate anchor straps for securing the wheelchair. * Anchor straps: Includes 4 quality, easy to use anchor straps * Has multiple locations with switches to operate lift and power side slider. * Has wireless remote control for slider door and lift
This is one heck of a wheelchair van. Super versatile due to the lowered floor in middle AND front areas...can accommodate certain folks who want to load, unload and drive themselves in wheelchair. Plus, it's attractive and nicely featured. Status Rejuvenation has begun: I have recently acquired this van and the extensive rejuvenation process has begun, which is carried-out by various professional shops and specialists. If you are interested in securing this van for your future purchase (many of my vans are spoken for in this way prior to completion of rejuvenation) please feel free to call or mail me with any questions |

NOTE: I am always searching for more vans which are a nice addition to the mix of vans we have to offer. I will post initial information here about each van as I purchase, transform, and then make them available for sale. From the time I purchase a van until my transformation process is completed, averages approximately 4-6 weeks. Please visit this page periodically. Thank you, Rick |
