Options and Equipment THE VAN: This began as a 1/2 ton (E150) with full power and convenience features, medium size 4.6 liter V8 and auto with overdrive with dual airbags. When brand new, it was created into what most professionals would refer to as a touring or cruising style van (See below) and sold as such at a Ford dealer and then later, when it was quite new, the adaptive/mobility equipment was added (see below) THE GOODIES: When new this went through a production-line process of being converted into a cruising/touring style van and then was sold at a Ford dealer, as new. The conversion brand and model is: Sterling, by Classic Coach. The primary features are: contoured, quite tall roof (great for a wheelchair van); dual A/C; multi-function power drivers seat; very nice pleated fabric up/down style window shades; nice stereo with C.D.; Rear overhead storage compartment; clothes hanger behind the rear seat; sliding windows with screens; fancy upholstery throughout; rear seat which easily folds into a bed; lots of wood accents; extra lighting; fancy, very solid running boards with integrated wheel opening flares; fancy graphics and striping; extra 12 volt plugs....and I suppose I am forgetting even more details. It is very nice, fancy, beautiful, quality conversion MOBILITY: At some point within a couple years of being new, the following mobility/adaptive features were added: * The extended-height doors and corresponding roof notch are about as tall as any personal-use wheelchair vans available. And once inside, it feels cavernous and has lots of headroom. * Has a Crow River (now part of the industry giant, Braun) lift with a VERY wonderful and uncommon feature which is called a Tri-Fold platform (also of generous width and length) which is unique: when the lift is stowed there is room for people to comfortably pass in and out of the van for things such as passengers accessing the rear seat, attendant needing to access the person in the chair, etc. This is a huge benefit, versus typical lifts which entirely block the side doors once the lift is stowed. * This van also has what is called a power transfer seat in the front passenger area. This seat allows for easy transfer of the person in a wheelchair in and out of the front seat. This one feature has a replacement value of more than $2,000. * And this van has an excellent system for anchoring the wheelchair, which consists of two flush-mounted strips across the entire width of the floor, with notches at approximately each inch to allow for very versatile positioning of the chair and anchor straps. Dimensions, capacity and specifications: Please feel free to email or call me with any such questions. I will gladly assist with anything you wish to know. I have discovered that due to the unique way each person evaluates, measures and expresses their needs, I can be most helpful regarding this subject if we communicate directly. History of Ownership Has had only two owners, both from the mid-west. The second owner (who had M.S.) passed away a few months ago and his estate sold the van to me. History of Care As is often the case, the estate I bought this from did not have records for its history of care, but please see below for details of the MAJOR/VALUABLE list of maintenance my mechanic has done on it: Here are the freshly care-for items, which at my wholesale cost was more than $1,500: new shocks on all 4 corners; A/C charge and service; coolant system flush; extensive transmission service; alignment; misc. front suspension; rear brakes; lube and filter. When combining this list with other rejuvenation, my wholesale investment in this van has totaled nearly $3,000! It is beautiful and runs, drives and functions fantastic and should do so for many years to come. Each of my vans receives a detailed (about 75 items) inspection by the general mechanic shop which I consider to be the finest in my area. Then, after discussing their report, I have them do what is needed to repair, replace or service items on the vehicle in order to reach my high standard of overall mechanical condition. This is a major element of my "Rick's rejuvenated" process. In addition: as part of my 'Rick's rejuvenated'' process, each mobility/adaptive component is inspected, serviced, adjusted and repaired (if needed) by a different mechanic, who owns the premium company in this area which exclusively cares for wheelchair vans.
Carfax Report
Summary Nothing negative or derogatory on the report You Might Like To Know... * The power transfer seat could be moved into the drivers position if you need it there. * Less than 10% of personal-use wheelchair vans have the amount of entry/exit clearance and inside headroom as this van. * Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars. Summary of this Gem In the past year folks from as far away as 2,300 miles have come to me to buy rejuvenated wheelchair vans with low miles, for affordable prices. This van is virtually unbeatable when considering its overall level of desirable features and outstanding condition. The combination of tall roof and extra-tall entry doors, plus excellent miles and nearly $3,000 wholesale cost invested in rejuvenation makes this a wonderful, hard to find, exceptional van in this price-range. (It is priced at about 25% of what a similar van would cost if new.) |
