7 GREAT REASONS TO BUY A
POP-TOP VAN There are many notable advantages of NOT having a permanently tall roof as most class B's have: This will park in any garage...gets better gas mileage due to much less wind resistance... no wind buffeting...can be driven down tight wilderness roads with low-hanging branches...does not have the tall center of gravity like a tall van, therefore it rides, drives much like a car...distinctly better ventilation and fresh air than a solid roof van...with large window panels unzipped, lots of natural light shines in... |

Options and Equipment *** This extremely special van with quality, extensive features in pristine condition and with impeccable history was professionally, custom built for a wealthy executive as a retirement gift to himself and his wife. Please see below for details. And please read the captions on the photos, as that is where you will find much of the details regarding the features. Note: Apx. cost to custom-create (no company mass produces such a van) a similar new van with this level of quality and features would be about $60,000. THE VAN: This is a STANDARD LENGTH van, not the super long body. It began as a 1/2 ton which was special ordered with the optional 5.8 V8 motor (but has never towed anything, no hitch) and has automatic with overdrive, cruise control, stereo, tilt, cold A/C, etc. THE RV: Don't think that because this is only a pop-top and not a solid roof class-B that it does not have lots of features, function and usability. Consider that when this was created in 1995 the cost of the custom-ordered RV conversion alone was more than $20,000! It is very obvious when you delve into this van that the level of fit, finish and materials used in this conversion are of a level which exceeds most RV's. Regarding features, you will find much more detail as you read the photo captions, but in summary, here are SOME of the highlights: insulated pop-top with windows and screens; extensive, quality cabinetry; 2 dedicated very large RV batteries; nearly queen size bed; padded, insulated, finely upholstered interior; 2 table-tops; commercial-grade cloth, metal, Formica, wood and other fine interior finishes throughout; several vented, screened windows; cloth window shades; stainless steel sink with hot and cold water; 20 gallon water tank; ability to shower outside; microwave; refrigerator; aircraft-grade converter/inverter/charging unit; surprising amount of storage abounds; 110 power outlets; various interior lighting; marine-grade porta-potti. This is a partial list of features. And see below for long list of brand new items... BRAND NEW ITEMS: Over the past two months (as I was intending to treasure this for my personal use, see history of ownership below for explanation) I invested approximately $3,000 having various professionals add to and upgrade this already amazing van. This is in addition to professional, general mechanical and RV service, detailing, paint-sealant, etc. The new items, with apx. project costs indicated, are: highest quality ceiling fan($ 500); period-correct factory allows with brand new Goodyear tires( $1,000);custom mud-flaps to protect nearly perfect original paint ($250); 2 huge capacity, highest quality Optima batteries with similar power to 6 normal batteries!( $500) ; custom swivel seat base for front passenger seat ($400) custom front privacy curtain of special sun-guard fabric($250) Custom toilet cover of same material ($100) History of Ownership ONE FASTIDIOUS OWNER: Was bought new in the Bay Area by a wealthy man who was retiring as an executive of a silicon valley tech company. He special ordered the van and when he got it took it directly to a shop in San Jose which exclusively builds custom ordered pop-top campers such as this. His original intention was to use it for he and his wife to go on fly-fishing adventures in the west. Part of the low miles were driven on such trips and some miles were accumulated during local driving in the greater Bay area. And notably; few RV's have actually been garaged since new, this is one of those rare few and it shows by the paint, body trim, etc. which is nearly like new and the fact there is no sun weathering of the interior. You may wonder: How did I have the opportunity to acquire this special van? I suppose it is an indicator of the financial comfort and quality of the couple who owned it, that they decided that due to life changes they were going to donate it to a charity which would sell it and benefit from the proceeds. I learned of this through a friend in the Bay area and between the owner and charity made a deal to buy it. My intention was to improve and update the wonderful RV it already was and then to keep it for a long time. You see, I LOVE small RV's and I especially LOVE and appreciate unique vehicles that have had ideal owner, care and use histories. In my lifetime of professional work in the auto industry I have rarely encountered vehicles as special as this one. But, it was with a heavy heart that after deeply pondering and discussing my business-path with my bookkeeper, I decided that the value of this van is money best invested into my business growth, rather than being invested into this wonderful toy. Now you know its history, how I got it and why I am selling it ...rather than keeping it. I'll be sad to see it go, but the person who buys it will be VERY happy to have it.
History of Care As with everything about this van, the history is as good as every buyer hopes for. He was the type of person who kept records for virtually every dollar spent. Therefore, I have dozens of receipts (mostly from the Ford dealer) for maintenance, repairs, care, etc. And not only has it had a super level of care, but it is obvious when you drive it that this van has had nothing buy very easy, smooth, considerate driving. It is actually astounding how quiet, smooth, tight and solid this van is. I'll suggest that if you imagine how you would hope a van of 1/2 this age to be...this RV is finer than that. Each of my vans receives a detailed (about 75 items) inspection by the general mechanic shop which I consider to be the finest in my area. Then, after discussing their report, I have them do what is needed to repair, replace or service items on the vehicle in order to reach my high standard of overall mechanical condition. This is a major and very valuable element of my "Rick's rejuvenated" process. In addition: as part of my 'Rick's rejuvenated'' process, each mobility/adaptive component is inspected, serviced, adjusted and repaired (if needed) by a different mechanic, who owns the premium company in this area which exclusively cares for wheelchair vans.
Carfax Report
Summary SHOWS AS ONE OWNER. Nothing negative or derogatory on the report You Might Like To Know... * If the photos make this appear as if it is an extra-long wheelbase, that is an illusion due to my wide-angle camera. It is actually the standard, common length. * I promise you that however nice you think it looks in the photos, it is absolutely every bit that nice, or even better. Every professional who I have had work on this has commented about how immaculate and nice it is. I realize I sound like a broken record about the condition of this van, and I assure you that if you or any professional evaluates it...there will be total agreement that the condition is much better than being in the top 10%, it is easily in the top 1% of all vehicles of its age. And keep in mind, although it is very capable of towing, it has never even had a hitch on it! * There are notable advantages of NOT having a permanently tall roof (but you can raise it if you want to). Compared to a van with a tall roof: This will park in any garage...gets better gas mileage and has MUCH less wind buffeting...can be driven down tight wilderness road with low-hanging branches...does not have the tall center of gravity like a tall van, therefore it rides, drives and handles MUCH better. * Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars. Summary of this Gem The condition, features and superb owner history of the van you see here is the rarest of rare in the affordable, pre-owned RV world. This would generally be referred to as a class-B minus (not quite the equipment level of a typical class B) and has only 67,000 miles. It was professionally custom built at great cost and has had only one owner who kept it in the garage at all times and obviously babied it when using it. The quality and content of the features and overall conversion is of the highest level for a rig of this type. And I have every receipt, manual, document, instruction and even the original window sticker for this van and even the custom build sheet for the conversion! Simply put...if you are interested in a small RV in this general price-range, it is surely the finest one in existence. Yes, this small RV actually is THAT nice.
