Options and Equipment

THE VAN: Began as a Dodge Caravan SE with 3.3 (optional motor) 6 cylinder and auto with overdrive (option). Has power windows, locks, cruise, cold A/C and original FM, tilt, airbag, four speaker stereo.

THE GOODIES: Custom stripes, brand new window tint with UV and glare blocker, rear seat folds into a shelf

MOBILITY:  When brand new, this van was converted by the IMS/Braun company, which is the leading mobility equipment company.  It received the full package available at the time of: contoured raised roof, deeply lowered floor all the way to the dash, 3 inch taller door with corresponding roof-notch, triple-redundant operating switches, deep-kneeling suspension, power sliding door, power ramp with very desirable "gate function" and versatile locations for anchoring the wheelchair. Also has ultra-low effort power steering and the manual parking brake has been upgraded to one which functions via a simple no-effort switch.

Note: This van does have the wonderful feature of wireless remote control for the ramp/door/kneeling. However, although it is functional and available if needed, we recommend using any of the 3 manual switches rather than the remote.

Dimensions, capacity and specifications: Please feel free to email or call me with any such questions. I will gladly assist with anything you wish to know. I have discovered that due to the unique way each person evaluates, measures and expresses their needs, I can be most helpful regarding this subject if we communicate directly.

History of Ownership

It was purchased when new in the Seattle area and had been there its entire life until I acquired it. Based on the Carfax report and what I learned from the agency I acquired it from, it seems as though it has had two owners.  Most of its life it was owned and used by a health-services agency operated by the county Seattle is in.  They sold it to me as part of a routine process of replacing vehicles on a certain schedule.

History of Care

As with most government agencies, the county who owned this was unable to provide documentation to me for its history of care, due to their rules. They did tell me that it received the high level of care which is customary for their fleet.  As with each of my vehicles, following the excellent work of various professionals... it currently runs, drives, functions and performs fantastic.

Each of my vans receives a detailed (about 75 items) inspection by the general mechanic shop which I consider to be the finest in my area. Then, after discussing their report, I have them do what is needed to repair, replace or service items on the vehicle in order to reach my high standard of overall mechanical condition.  This is a major element of my "Rick's rejuvenated" process.

As part of my 'Rick's rejuvenated'' process, each mobility/adaptive component is inspected, serviced, adjusted and repaired (if needed) by the premium company in this area which exclusively cares for wheelchair vans.

Carfax Report Summary

(Carfax is a widely used database which indicates the history of a vehicle including accidents, prior owners, etc.)

Nothing significantly negative indicated.  The report does indicate mileage at sufficient intervals and amounts to verify these super low miles.

You Might Like To Know...

* To my knowledge, there are no longer any minivan conversion companies which build vans with the combination of deeply lowered floor AND raised roof. It could be this was only structurally possible with this previous body style, or maybe it was cost prohibitive to continue performing such an extreme process? This van is rare and apparently such desirable features are no longer available.

* Some of the long list of update/rejuvenated items includes: new carpet; restored ramp and sliding door; 2 new tires; new battery; refreshed upholstery; extensive refreshing of exterior cosmetics; various mechanical improvments and maintenance tasks completed

* I have been told by folks who have owned both this style and the one following it, that this body-style is preferable to the newer one because it has better visibility from the chair and also has a bit more room inside due to its more square shape.

* Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars.

Summary of this Gem

This 1993 Caravan is what would be fair to call a "must see". In every measure, it could easily pass for being 1/2 its age.   It is a premium IMS/Braun conversion with only 47,000 actual miles! Has a virtually unheard of amount of head clearance at the entry and interior headroom due to its very rare combination of raised roof PLUS deeply lowered floor. It's been significantly rejuvenated in regards to function and appearance... this van is beautiful, functionally superb and ready to serve.
