Options and Equipment THE VAN: This began as an extended body one ton van which would have originally had seating for 12 or 15. It has the small V8, rather than the big one which uses more gas. It also has the optional overdrive transmission, which also helps very much to reduce fuel consumption. Due to its intended use (read history of ownership below) it was ordered with the highest trim level available called the "Beauville" package. This high level of features is unusual in extended body vans. It has features such as: fancy bumpers and grill, wide side moldings and fancy wheel well trim; deeper carpet and side panel upholstery; upgraded bucket seats with integrated headrests; generous level of power and convenience features such as windows, locks, cruise, tilt, stereo, upgraded interior lighting and more. THE GOODIES: Two-tone paint and custom striping package. New, modern wheel covers. MOBILITY: The components which make this a wheelchair van are very rare to find in a well-equipped and attractive large van such as this. Rarely can you find a van which has this combo of being attractive and well-equipped and also being able to carry a versatile mixture of people in chairs and those who are not. As for the specific mobility aspects, these are the components: * Heavy duty lift with long and wide platform for carrying nearly any size person in any size chair * Tall roof (but contoured, so its not ugly) with very tall and wide doors. This allows more entry/exit clearance than all but a few wheelchair vans * Many locations in floor area to anchor one or more wheelchairs. Depending on if you leave one or two of the rear seats in the van and what size the wheelchairs are, this van will accommodate between 1 and 4 chairs. And it could do so while carrying as many as 9 additional passengers. As you see and read, this is an extremely versatile van....without being the unwieldy size or having the gas usage of a mini bus. * New flooring and sub-flooring material: I had a specialty shop install new wood sub-floor (mounted on top of the metal floor) and also the latest and greatest flooring material which is currently being installed in many new wheelchair vans. This rubberized vinyl product is super durable and also provides a bit of grip which is good for chairs to drive on and people to walk on. Dimensions, capacity and specifications: Please feel free to email or call me with any such questions. I will gladly assist with anything you wish to know. I have discovered that due to the unique way each person evaluates, measures and expresses their needs, I can be most helpful regarding this subject if we communicate directly. History of Ownership This was bought new and configured into a versatile wheelchair van for a very unique application: it was used by a tour company that takes people on local, small group tours who had disembarked from a cruise ship. It was specifically used and only used when someone on a tour was in a wheelchair, otherwise, the tour company used a typical passenger van or mini-bus. They replaced this with a new, similarly equipped van. History of Care The tour company that owned this, as with most professional carriers, took nice routine care of this. And as you see below, my process is to have each van extensively checked out and serviced, repaired and maintained as needed. With such low miles, the mechanical condition was quite good when I bought it. Now, after my rejuvenation process, this van performs excellently. Each of my vans receives a detailed (about 75 items) inspection by the general mechanic shop which I consider to be the finest in my area. Then, after discussing their report, I have them do what is needed to repair, replace or service items on the vehicle in order to reach my high standard of overall mechanical condition. And in case you may wonder, their process on each van does include an oil, lube and filter service. The aforementioned inspection, repair and service process is a major and very valuable element of my "Rick's rejuvenated" process. As a result of the above mentioned process, here is a list of some items which were cared for by the shop I speak of: * Extensive transmission service including some new parts * New wipers * New tie-rod ends and suspension/steering alignment * New heavy duty, top quality Interstate battery * Extensive A/C servicing In addition: as part of my 'Rick's rejuvenated'' process, each mobility/adaptive component is inspected, serviced, adjusted and repaired (if needed) by a different mechanic, who owns the premium company in this area which exclusively cares for wheelchair vans.
Carfax Report
Summary All fine, nothing derogatory on the report. You Might Like To Know... * you would have a very hard time finding a vehicle that is not a mini-bus which is as versatile and capable as this one. It's ready for whatever combination of carrying passengers in or out of wheelchairs you may have. * IDEA: this has so much space in it that it could pretty easily be used for camping. There is plenty of space to sleep and to haul supplies with one or both of the rear seats removed. * It is wonderful that when this van was special ordered (when gas was cheap) they decided to get the smaller motor...which gets several MPG better than the big motor. Also, these 5.7 liter Chevy motors are famous for their combination of power, super reliability and getting decent MPG. * Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars. Summary of this Gem If you need to haul some combination of people who are in chair/s as well as a number of people in seats...this van may be just what you need. And aside from having amazingly low original miles, now that it has been through my very extensive rejuvenation process it is in wonderful condition in every way.

Huge opening creates extreme width, entry/exit clearance, and allows for lift with very large platform for parking wheelchair on. |
This lift is of a commercial-quality nature and has a rating of 800-pound capacity. |
This oversize lift will accommodate nearly all sizes of people and wheelchairs or scooters. |
I unlatched this second row seat so that you can see the extreme amount of open floor space which results when this seat is removed. In this configuration, the van would still seat 6 people with an enormous amount of open floor space remaining. Note: Due to the extremely versatile location of floor anchor points, wheelchairs can be positioned in virtually any area you choose throughout this floor area. |
I included this photo to show seat belts for four-person capacity of far rear seat. |
My extensive rejuvenation process on this van included some logistical redesign as well. Wooden subfloor and rubberized vinyl flooring material are brand new. You have a wide range of possibilities including the ability to carry as many as several people in wheelchairs and up to nine seated passengers |
These two rear seats, combined with the two front seats accommodate nine seated passengers. In this configuration, there is generous space to carry 1 or possibly 2 people in wheelchairs. Note: Imagine the possibilities which this van offers, not only for carrying wheelchairs and passengers, but possibly... camping, cargo-hauling, transporting large items? |
Both front and rear area of roof have a giant carpet-lined storage area, as seen in this photo. |
This photo shows the lift at what is called "floor level," which is the position enabling driving on or off of lift platform. |
