Options and Equipment

THE VAN:  This is an ultra-rare combination for a wheelchair van:  it began as a full size, short-wheelbase, half-ton with small V8 and overdrive automatic.  Due to the short wheelbase the overall length is virtually the same as a minivan!

THE GOODIES: Stripes, wheel opening moldings and giant tinted picture windows with screened vents, plus skylight windows in the roof.  And it has new carpet.

MOBILITY:  This is such a unique and useful combination of wheelchair access modifications:  It has a very tall, (yet contoured, not ugly) roof and very tall side access doors which result in a tie for having the most entry/exit clearance and interior headroom of any personal-use wheelchair van I've ever had.  I would estimate that fewer than 2% of all wheelchair vans have this much clearance.  As for the lift, this is a heavy duty lift with the largest platform to park the chair on which is available for a personal use van.  This is similarly rare to the tall roof and doors... less than 2% have this size or capacity of lift.

Dimensions, capacity and specifications: Please feel free to email or call me with any such questions. I will gladly assist with anything you wish to know. I have discovered that due to the unique way each person evaluates, measures and expresses their needs, I can be most helpful regarding this subject if we communicate directly.

History of Ownership

Yes, yippee.  This has had one owner since new.  Personal use only, no harsh commercial use.

History of Care

This van has been babied since day one.   I actually have every receipt and document since new, including the original window sticker from the dealer and about 25 receipts for maintenance over the years!

Each of my vans receives a detailed (about 75 items) inspection by the general mechanic shop which I consider to be the finest in my area. Then, after discussing their report, I have them do what is needed to repair, replace or service items on the vehicle in order to reach my high standard of overall mechanical condition.  And in case you may wonder, their process on each van does include an oil, lube and filter service.  The aforementioned inspection, repair and service process is a major and very valuable element of my "Rick's rejuvenated" process.

In addition: as part of my 'Rick's rejuvenated'' process, each mobility/adaptive component is inspected, serviced, adjusted and repaired (if needed) by a different mechanic, who owns the premium company in this area which exclusively cares for wheelchair vans.

Carfax Report Summary

(Carfax is a widely used database which indicates the history of a vehicle including accidents, prior owners, etc.)

Nothing negative or derogatory on the report.  Shows as a Carfax "one owner"

* Note: neither Chevy nor Ford offered a short full size van such as this beyond the early 90's.   And so if the many benefits of a full size van appeal to you, but you like the idea of driving something short and easy...this is what you want and they are super rare to find.

Summary of this Gem

This is such a rare combination of: short wheelbase full size which is same length as a minivan; extra tall roof and side doors create super tall clearance and headroom; small V8 with O/D transmission and short 1/2 ton body results in decent MPG; giant, heavy duty lift; one owner who babied it since new ....and now it has been extensively rejuvenated so it is as fantastic functionally as it is beautiful cosmetically. It may be impossible to find another one like this.

A very nice and uncommon feature is the side-light windows in the roof.  This creates

added light and visibility, especially for people who have a tall overall height when in

 their wheelchair

This short-body van is only the length of a typical minivan!  Yet it has a huge amount

 of headroom and entry/exit clearance

This is a lift normally only found in large, commercial-duty vans.  It has a giant platform

and an 800 pound weight capacity, which is the heaviest in the industry.

When a heavy-duty commercial-grade lift such as this is used for limited personal use...it

will almost last 'forever'.  This lift functions and appears not much different than when

it was brand new.

Wow, notice how tall that entry area is! And very wide too!
