Highlights of This Van:

Ø  apx. $ 3,500 of new and very recent mechanical care and service: please read details below

Ø Equals the most entry clearance and width of all personal-use wheelchair vans I've offered.  If you're searching for a van with maximum entry clearance and width...this is the rare one to find

Ø If you need a long, wide, heavy-duty lift in a personal-use van, you found it...plus, it's been refurbished and works like new

Ø You could search for many months and likely not find another affordably priced wheelchair van that has the short body, tall roof and doors, plus heavy-duty lift of this van

Options and Equipment

THE VAN:  was custom ordered as a 1/2 ton with short body... for easy driving, parking and ease-of-use.  It has a small 5.2 liter V8 (318) and auto with overdrive.  Includes tilt, cruise, A/C, factory am/fm cassette with 4 speakers; power mirrors; more

GOODIES: film-tinted windows; extensive custom striping;  chrome wheel opening moldings

MOBILITY:  This was converted by a specialty wheelchair conversion company in the San Francisco Bay area.   This included the following items, which  as a combination of features are incredibly rare.  Here are some facts to demonstrate how rare this combo of features is: less than 1% of all personal-use wheelchair vans have this much entry clearance...less than 3% have this 800 pound capacity lift...less than 1% are built on a short body chassis

* Tallest possible roof on a personal-use van

* Has heavy-duty steel safety roll cage inside roof, which few wheelchair vans have

* Skylights in roof add more light and visibility which lends to feeling more spacious and comfortable

* Very tall and wide entry doors will accommodate very large people and very large wheelchairs

* Heavy-Duty, commercial lift by Ricon, with 800 pound capacity, and has long and wide platform. And it was newly 'refreshed' with brand new components

* Versatile track system on floor for versatile placement of wheelchair

* New top-quality and most easy to use anchor system which includes desirable and versatile lap and shoulder seatbelt system

History of Ownership

This was owned until about 1,500 miles ago by a couple in Sacramento. They were in their 30's when he was in an auto accident and became paralyzed.  He was an athlete, muscular, and was 6 feet 5 inches tall.  He and his wheelchair were/are large. Therefore, they needed a heavy-duty lift with large platform and also maximum width and height of entry area.  They custom-ordered this van and got it a few weeks later.  After some years passed they became able to afford another new van.  They kept this as a backup for a while.  I bought this from them about a year ago.  I then rejuvenated it and sold it to a family in the Eugene area.  The person it was purchased for died a few months later, and after some months passed they asked me if I wanted to find another home for it.  Even though it had not changed much during minimal miles and brief time, in past weeks it has now been through each of my usual steps in order to become "Certified".

History of Care

When I originally bought this van I received extensive records and paperwork for impeccable maintenance and care which it had received. Unfortunately, those records disappeared over the course of the year.  Each of the items listed below in the "new' section, all occurred over less than 2,000 miles of use and were done either by me or the folks I had recently sold it to.  Because it was in such great condition when I originally acquired it, getting to the "Certified" level was relatively easy (for a van of this vintage, in this affordable price range) and it is now in amazing condition in every way.

Certified

This vehicle is 'CERTIFIED': There are a combined 76 mechanical and cosmetic aspects  included in the Wheelchair Van Oasis "Certification" process.   A foundational step of the rejuvenation process is when each vehicle receives an extensive inspection by an objective, independent  third- party service and repair facility.  Suggested service, repairs and improvements are then performed by various professional specialists.   The  result is your assurance  that each of the 76 aspects  meets  or exceeds the condition level of good, fine or satisfactory.

For details regarding list of 76 cosmetic and mechanical aspects, please click here.

Each van does of course have various elements which exceed the promised level of good, fine or satisfactory, which the "Certified" program assures.  Some are brand new improvements performed during rejuvenation.  And others are obvious service or repairs performed recently, prior to my ownership.  As for those, I only list here those positives which are certain, based on my either having a receipt, and/or due to being obvious to the inspecting-mechanic.  I refer to these as  "NEW OR RECENTLY SERVICED ASPECTS".  As for this vehicle:

New: oil and lube;  major front brakes; heavy-duty battery; refurbished some major lift components; top-quality wheelchair anchors and custom seat belt system (see in photo with the stuffed bear); misc lift service

Recent:  rear brakes; quality tires

Approximate retail value/cost of above-listed items: $ 3,500

Additionally: When I owned this a year ago, part of my rejuvenation process included extensive refreshing of the interior which included new materials such as:  carpet-like ceiling material; front seat cloth; heavy-duty carpeted door panel trim; misc interior fabric and carpet pieces.  ($1,500)

Nothing derogatory on the report

You Might Like To Know...

* Each of my vans has a superb paint sealant as the final step of the extreme detail. If you were to have a professional apply a treatment the cost would be several hundred dollars.

* Wheelchair vans with shortest possible bodies (like this) are extremely rare and of those, almost none have extra-tall roofs and very tall doors such as this one.

* The last year Ford and Chevy made short-body vans was in the mid-90's and Dodge stopped in 2003.  therefore, it is EXTREMELY rare to find a wheelchair van such as this.

* The overall length of this van is virtually the same (within a few inches) as the lowered floor minivan wheelchair vans. But, this has MUCH more interior space and entry height, much more interior headroom and much more entry width too.  Plus, it has about twice as much ground clearance as a minivan and this lift is rated at 800 pounds, versus 600 for the minivan ramps.

Summary of this Gem

Many times per year someone contacts me looking for a van with certain unique features such as this van has.  And they're often frustrated and disappointed that they cant find one...because they need it.  The most rare and nearly impossible-to-find feature is the very tall and wide entry area.  Next are the large, heavy-duty lift and easy-to-drive short body. If you are one of these seekers, you have found the van you need...plus, its gorgeous and "Certified" and has great mileage.

This is a very attractive van, which is a result of the large, dark windows and very much because of the fact that it is the short body, which has a nicer, more balance appearance than longer vans

Why not own a wheelchair van that gets the 'job' done, but also looks nice?  O.K. so

its not a convertible sports car...but for a highly capable wheelchair van, it looks great.

Even though it is the short body, there is a couple feet of cargo space behind the rear seat

The added skylights in the roof create extra light and visibility

Wow, look at that very tall roof and super tall doors...if you are the person searching for a van with lots of entry clearance (height and width) this is the very rare one.

This is a very modern-looking van, and for a very tall van, it actually looks quite balanced
Simple interior, comfortable cloth seats
Even though this van has the largest lift possible in a personal-use van, there remains decent legroom for the front passenger
Immaculate, small V8 engine
The side opening is giant and the lift platform is as big as you will ever see in a personal-use van.  In fact, this short-body van has virtually the same size entry opening and lift platform as most very large commercial-use vans and even buses!  Yes, this is an EXTREMELY rare wheelchair van configuration
The strap you see going across the lift area is an optional-use safety strap that provides extra security for the person when parked on the platform  in their wheelchair
The safety strap can be quickly removed if it is not desired.

I took these photos with wheelchair on the platform to show in a dramatic way how large this platform is.  This is a medium-size wheelchair and there are many inches of clearance all around it.  This awesome lift will accommodate (size and weight) virtually every wheelchair.
Heavy-duty steel safety beams in ceiling area is substantial and quite a rare feature, which I have seen in few vans
Wow, see how much headroom this van has!  The owner who was 6-5 and in a big wheelchair did not even come close to touching his head.  Many folks would actually be able to stand straight up in this special van.
Rear seat is solid, supportive and comfortable
Even with the short, easy-to-drive, short body there is ample space in this van for even the very largest person and their large wheelchair.
This is a good view of the steel safety cage in the ceiling, as well as the large, very heavy-duty lift
One of the many unique and wonderful features of this wheelchair van, which separates it from nearly all others, is that there is no short ceiling above the front driver and passenger, as there is in most tall roof vans.  You see, most tall roof vans have a short false-ceiling in the front area, which has a TV and/or other such accessories above it.
Giant side windows (with vents and screens) and the rare upper windows create a great sense of openness, plus super visibility and let lots of light in.  It feels really nice inside this van.
Because there is no false-ceiling above the front area, it is very easy for the driver and front passenger to move about the interior, such as to assist the person in wheelchair

Includes various manuals and literature
